The Last Dummy is Moved

 

After the mills were closed, the dummy was no longer needed and was removed from the tracks. The photos below show the little locomotive being disassembled, picked up by a crane and loaded onto a truck. It was a sad ending to the tradition of having train service to Pacolet Mills. It is not known when these photos were taken or where the engine was taken to or if it was scrapped. If anyone knows what happened to the engine, please let us know and we will put it on this website
